The provision, known as ‘Suffolk New College – on the coast’, will initially offer study programmes in business, games design and IT, health and social care, art, design and media, construction and vocational access programmes.

People aged over 16 can apply for the level two, level one and entry level courses.

All courses will include work experience, and English and Maths for those yet to achieve GCSE grade C or above.

Viv Gillespie, principal at the Ipswich-based college, said: “The development will give us a base for 16 to 18 study programmes, providing young people in the area with the vocational learning they need to launch their careers.

“The new outpost of the college will be situated in an area of coastal Suffolk with large-scale planned housing growth and will be close to the proposed Sizewell C development.

“We will also be starting to offer apprenticeships, Leisure Learning and access to higher education in the near future from this location.”

Alde Valley Principal Michael Wilson said: “This is an incredibly exciting opportunity which will enrich choice, training and employment opportunities for young people across the region.”
