More than 2,000 people are thought to have enjoyed festivities at Alder Carr farm in Needham Market today as it held its annual Strawberry Fayre.

Attractions included performances from the Stowmarket Boys Brigade band and displays by the Blodorn Englar Viking Reenactment group and the Haughley Hoofers, as well as a mobile zoo, bouncy castles, food and craft stalls and face painting.

The strawberry fayre gained its name as it is held in mid-June, when strawberries are at their ripest.

The annual event raises funds for a different charity each year, with the East Anglian Air Ambulance the 2017 beneficiary.

Speaking from the farm on Saturday afternoon, event organiser Annette Attwood said: “It’s fantastic. Everyone is having a really good time.

“There’s lots of children and lots of people with their dogs.

“It’s bigger then last year. Last year was good and it was cold and we had rain.

“We’re very pleased and hopefully we can raise as much money as possible.

“It was my son who said ‘mum, you have known people who the air ambulance has come out to’, so we decided to support them.”
