A little Jack Russell Terrier cross has been found tied to a gate outside the RSPCA near Braintree when rescue workers were just metres away.
The white Jack Russell Terrier cross was found by the staff who were working just metres away at Danaher Animal home near Braintree on Sunday, August 13.
The male dog is believed to have been left between 8.30am and 9.30am.
Deborah Satchell, the animal centre manager, said: “He was very scared and confused, unsurprisingly. He has been plucked from his home and everything he knows and loves, and just tied to a gate.
“It is just unbelievable that they could not even be bothered to walk up the drive and hand him over to us in a responsible manner - I mean, we were literally metres away and we would have helped.”
Thankfully the wire-haired dog, who is around two to three-years-old, was found unharmed and in a good condition.
When he was found he was wearing a red collar but had no ID tag, so the staff have since named him Terry.
If he is not claimed then he will be re-homed by the centre.
