A two-day science fair at a Great Cornard school saw 600 children learn everything from dancing flames to giant exploding bubbles.
Thomas Gainsborough School’s 19th annual fair was declared a roaring success, with two floors dedicated to science.
Staff at the school were joined by businesses and organisations including Colchester Zoo, Otley College, and Suffolk police to show how science is used in the real world through a series of demonstrations.
Ryan Furlong, head of physics, said: “The purpose of our science fair is to stimulate an interest in science and engineering and to show how important it is, not just in schools but in the outside world.
“Our goal is that the primary schools involved will be able use some of the demonstrations they have experienced to help teach their curriculum.”
The event was supported by the Ogden Trust, a Cambridge-based charitable trust that exists to promote the teaching and learning of physics.
