A MAN has been taken to hospital after he was stabbed in Ipswich town centre.
Police and paramedics were called to the public toilets in the Buttermarket shopping centre around 3.30pm.
A police spokesman said the man, in his teens or early 20s, had been stabbed in the upper body in nearby Butter Market Street.
He said: “The man was located inside the Buttermarket shopping centre with a stab wound to his left hand side. He has since been taken to Ipswich Hospital where he remains in a stable condition. We have closed off the toilet where the man was found.”
He said the man was conscious and breathing in hospital and that a friend he had been found with had not been injured.
A spokeswoman for the East of England Ambulance Service said the man had suffered potentially serious but not life threatening injuries.
Police are carrying out enquiries and are in the process of viewing CCTV footage.
