A west Suffolk cycling shop pulled an all-nighter to carry out emergency repairs on riders travelling to the county’s coast from east London.

This Saturday was the third year the hardy staff at Torque Bikes in Sudbury have stayed open all night to aid cyclists taking part in the madcap Dunwich Dynamo.

Established more than 20 years ago by the Southwark Cyclists, the race leaves Hackney at around 8pm and snakes its way across the country to Dunwich, with around 2,000 riders taking part in this year’s challenge.

Torque Bikes Leighton Taylor said: “You wouldn’t believe the amount of people who have mechanical problems.

“Sometimes we see them again and some of them use us for repairs and stuff, so it’s definitely worth doing.”

Nearby Weston’s Cafe also stayed open through the night to provide refreshments at the challenge’s half-way point.
