Former Ipswich Town duo Freddie Sears and Reggie Lambe helped Braintree Town win promotion to the National League.

Angelo Harrop's side were officially promoted following their 4-3 win over Worthing after extra-time in the National League South play-off final at the Sussex Transport Community Stadium yesterday.

The Iron led twice and trailed once as the game finished 3-3 after 90 minutes, before Lambe came off the bench to convert a diving header in the second half of extra time.

The Bermudan joined the Essex side last summer, with his winner securing their return to the fifth tier of English football for the first time since 2019.

Sears signed for Braintree in March following his departure from Dagenham & Redbridge and scored for the Iron in their 3-2 win over Chelmsford City to reach the sixth tier play-off final.

In total, Sears scored 34 goals in 217 games during his time at Portman Road, while Lambe made six appearances for the Blues after progressing through the academy.
