The Greens have just enjoyed a sensational week, beating Thurlow Nunn First Division table-toppers King’s Lynn 3-2 in Norfolk on Saturday and then grabbing a 93rd minute winner to hand Framlingham Town their first league defeat of the season in a 4-3 thriller on Wednesday night.

They travel to Leiston Reserves this weekend in the Suffolk Senior Cup, but Coldron is determined to keep his eyes on the promotion prize, with his side sitting second in the table.

“The win against Framlingham was extremely pleasing,” he said. “We went into Saturday’s game at King’s Lynn saying that four points from our next two games was the requirement if we were to continue contending and, fair play to the boys, we’ve got two excellent results.

“Promotion is absolutely a possibility, as long as we maintain focus – it’s been proven that when we lose that, we slip up. “It’s imperative we stay focused.”

Young striker Josh Stevens, 18, came off the bench to score the dramatic winner against Fram, and Coldron says that bringing players through from the reserves and youth teams has been a major part of their success thus far this season.

“Josh has scored as a sub in his last five games,” Coldron explained. “He might be deserving of a start this weekend!

“That is one of the biggest joys of being at the club at the moment, we’ve got players coming off the bench and performing.

“We’ve got a key nucleus of 14-15 players and more coming through who have the hunger and the talent to perform when they get a chance.”

So is the cup clash a distraction for the Greens, coming, as it does, as they’re flying in the league?

“Our key focus is promotion,” stressed Coldron, who will be missing Duane Wright this weekend. “But Whitton have got a good history in the Senior Cup and we’re playing against a former Whitton boss in Paul Bugg who was very successful here and actually won the Senior Cup, so that is something that we’re looking forward to.”
