Nearly 60 per cent of Ipswich Town fans would like to see Luke Chambers start in the heart of the Blues defence, alongside Adam Webster, when the Championship season begins next Saturday.
The Blues skipper conceded this week that his place in the team was not set in stone, either at centre-half or right-back, following the signings of Jordan Spence and Dominic Iorfa and the presence of Tommy Smith in the Town squad.
However, a poll on the EADT website has seen 59 per cent of fans favour Chambers striking up a partnership alongside Webster for the first game of the season, at home to Birmingham.
A total of 26 per cent, however, believe Chambers should not start in the Blues’ new-look team, while only 13 per cent said he should start alongside Smith in the centre.
Chambers has played for much of his Town career in his unfavoured right-back position, and only two per cent of fans feel he should start in that role.
