Ipswich Harriers had five young runners representing the East of England at the London Mini-Marathon, including a superb performance from Tilly Aldis.
Staged over a three-mile course from Old Billingsgate to The Mall, on the morning of the main London Marathon, the Harriers were well represented.
Aldis enjoyed a terrific run in the under-13 girls’ race, finishing fourth overall in 17mins 22secs. London’s Naomi Toft (17:01) won the race, with Eva Holland second (17:19) and Lizzy Edge, of the East Midlands, third in 17:20, so Aldis was only two seconds adrift of second spot.
Fellow Harrier Holly Fisher was 41st in the under-15 girls’ age group with 18:17, while Charlie Turner finished 70th with 18:03 in the under-13 boys’ event.
Other Ipswich Harriers in action were Nathan Goddard, who was 63rd in the under-15 boys’ race in 16:24, and Thomas Adams, who was 54th in the under-17 boys’ section
