Mildenhall Town manager Dean Greygoose admits he is just as upbeat, if not more so, than this time last year despite his side in the bottom six of Bostik North.

The west Suffolk club travel to bottom-placed Romford today in a league encounter before travelling to another team below them in the table, Ware, next weekend.

Six points up for grabs that would be hugely valuable for a ‘Hall side who are certainly more likely than not to start climbing the table.

“We are where we are, but I don’t look at the table that much,” Greygoose said.

“I don’t feel under any pressure, there is no panic from me. We’ll be fine. But don’t get me wrong, there is no complacency either.

“We’ve had a fantastic Trophy run that possibly has taken it out on some of my players. Five got injured during that run and it’s not easy. I defy any manager to cope with the amount of injuries we have had this campaign.

“It’s all been a bit relentless, Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday for almost three months. But we settle down a bit now and I’ve brought in five new players.”

“It’s taking a bit of time to settle, but we are getting there.”

Mildenhall made the move up to Step four after promotion from the Thurlow Nunn Premier last season. They made a good start to life at their new level, but no win in 12 have seen the Recreation Way side slip into 19th position in the table.

“I’m the worst loser ever,” Greygoose said.

“We haven’t won enough games, simple as that. We were beaten heavily at Hornchurch recently and I have changed things a bit since. We now look more solid.”

Romford are bottom of Bostik North and in a division that sees only one team get relegated they have much to do not to be that side.

Meanwhile, four draws in their last five Bostik North encounters have seen Bury Town slip down to 11th in the table.

However, not losing games means Ben Chenery’s side just need a couple of wins to get back to the edge of the play-offs.

Today they entertain Grays Athletic at Ram Meadow.
