Paul Musgrove says he hopes to include two new signings in Stowmarket Town’s squad for the trip to Haverhill Rovers today (3pm), writes Alex Moss. The Old Gold and Blacks are set to return to action after a two-week break this afternoon with a trip to the New Croft, and assistant manager Musgrove could hand debuts to Stow’s two new recruits as he takes charge in the absence of boss Rick Andrews, who is away on holiday. Ahead of last week’s Thurlow Nunn League transfer deadline, Stow completed the signings of midfielder Payton Swatman, from Wroxham, and King’s Lynn Town winger Harry Whayman on loan until the end of the season. The duo could both make their first appearances for the Old Gold and Blacks this weekend, as Musgrove looks to continue his perfect record when standing in for the absent Andrews. “Our two new signings are available, so we’ve got a few decisions to make before the weekend,” Musgrove said. “We know we’re in for a tough game at Haverhill Rovers. I know their manager, Marc Abbott, a little bit and their playing style as well. “For us we want to get another long run going, but we’ll take each game as it comes. “We won’t be looking too much at the teams around us, we’ll just keep plugging away. “It will be good to get back out there on Saturday and hopefully we can put in a good performance, get the win and keep my 100 per cent record too!” With just 13 games left of their season to play, Stow currently sit third in the Premier Division table, one spot below the promotion spots. Andrews’ men know they cannot afford any more slip ups if they are to launch a late push for the top two, as leaders Felixstowe & Walton United and Coggeshall Town, in second place, look to maintain their points advantage over the Old Gold and Blacks. Stow could be boosted for today’s trip to the New Croft by the return of midfielder Jack Baker, who has not featured since October due to injuries. www.greenun24.co.uk
