SUNDERLAND manager Steve Bruce is considering a 5million move for Wigan defender Titus Bramble.

Bruce has always had a good relationship with the former Ipswich man, after resurrecting his career when he signed him for Wigan from Newcastle on a free transfer in 2007.

The 28-year-old won the player of the year at Wigan that season as his form was transformed under Bruce, the then Wigan manager, after he had a reputation at Newcastle for making too many mistakes.

With the Black Cats’ manager in desperate need for a centre half, and with other targets too unrealistic, Bramble is seen as good value although he is unlikely to make the beginning of the season, due to a stress fracture in his foot he suffered towards the end of the last campaign.
