A businessman from Bury St Edmunds has been inspired by his personal experience of a life threatening illness to participate in a fundraising event in support of St Nicholas Hospice Care.
Managing director of roofing access products supplier Bilco UK, James Fisher, will be joining fourteen other local business leaders to compete in “I’m a CEO Get Me Out of Here”. The event, which takes place on October 27 in Nowton Park, Bury St Edmunds, is based on the popular TV series I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here , and will see participants face a series of challenges including bush-craft trials to raised as much money as possible for the hospice.
Mr Fisher, who had to undergo a bone marrow transplant after being diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia in 2000, said: “Not everyone lives to tell their story - 17 years on and I am eternally grateful that I survived. The challenges that I take on in October will be nothing compared to the trauma and upset that people are faced with when they receive a life changing diagnosis.”
