Train operator Greater Anglia says its performance across its East Anglia routes in May was “good” and it expects to see further improvements in the coming weeks and months.

Punctuality on many of its routes was “well over 90%”, it said. The best performance was on the routes from Norwich to Lowestoft, with 97.6% of trains on time; Marks Tey to Sudbury, 97.5%; Norwich to Great Yarmouth, 96.5%; Harwich to Manningtree, 95.8% and Norwich to Sheringham, 94.5%. Essex commuter services from Clacton, Witham, Colchester and Chelmsford to London was 93.9% punctual and the intercity services between Norwich, Ipswich, Colchester and London, 91.0%.

Managing director Jamie Burles said it was working with Network Rail to reduce disruption. “The actions and investment we have in place should deliver those improvements. The general trends are in the right direction.”
