A young Ipswich business, Ocala Healthcare, is launching a new home care service to tackle the challenge of loneliness.

According to recent research by Age UK, half a million older people nationally can go days without seeing or speaking to anybody else.

Ocala Healthcare was set up by directors Adam Storey and Sam Cage in November 2017.

It is already supporting people in elderly care homes and learning disability homes across Suffolk.

Miss Cage, the registered care manager for Ocala Healthcare, said: “Ocala Healthcare is launching a fresh thinking home care service in Suffolk that provides not only a quality of care but a quality of life.”

It would provide care from 4-24 hours instead of a pop-in and 15-30 minutes visits, she said, and trips out.

She added: “But we want to go further than that and support those we care for to continue to enjoy their hobbies and passions, in spite of their care needs – whether this is going for fish and chips at Felixstowe or going to the Suffolk Show.”
