MICHAEL Porter, secretary of Waterside Football Club in Ipswich, has sent in this picture of Waterside FC 1974.

Michael says: “The team played on Sunday mornings at Gypswke Park and the club's history is that it first started in the late 60s, early 70, based at All Saints Church, in Ipswich and played under the church name.

“When Mickey Porter (Stitch) took over the running of the club, it eventually became Amada and used the Rose and Crown as its headquarters.

“Keith Jones took over the management of the club and we moved to Chantry Park for our home games.

“One of our players is the current Radio Suffolk Country & Western presenter Brian Mann. He was a quality centre-half, won everything in the air, but got a bit dizzy when the ball was at his feet.”
