And although Russell isn't one of the brothers in the picture, the eight young men photographed here are all brothers.

The Lambert brothers to be precise. There's dad John (who was 55 at the time), David (who was 21), Dennis and twin brother Raymond (19), Peter (24), Ronald (26, Brian (22), Donald (29) and Derek (30).

Isn't it a fantastic photograph? And where are they all know?

Russell adds: “This photo and article appeared in the Charles Buchan Football Monthly magazine at the time.

“We (Kirton) played in division two of the Ipswich & District League at the time and the other members of the team (not pictured) were Charlie Bilner (goalkeeper), me and my brother, Norman.

“I certainly don't think that you would find 8 brothers in a team anywhere in the country now.”

Or would you . . .

(N) HAVE you got any special photographs you would like to share with us here at Love Non-league? What has happened to the Lambert brothers? E-mail me: mike.bacon@archant.co.uk, or send them in the post: Mike Bacon, Love Non-League, 30 Lower Brook Street, Ipswich IP4 1AN.
