MANCHESTER United stopper Tomasz Kuszczak is determined to show this season that he can replace Edwin van der Sar once the Dutch goalkeeper retires.
Van der Sar will be 40 in October and next season could be his last for United after he agreed a one-year extension to his contract.
Ben Foster has left for Birmingham, leaving Kuszcak next in line.
Kuszczak, 28, said: “My challenge is simple - after Edwin finishes I want to be number one at Manchester United.”
Kuszczak has made 51 appearances for United, including 11 straight matches from November to January last season.
