How to maximise storage space in small properties

How can you maximise storage space in a small house or flat? We spoke to Lorelei Firbank, franchisee of Sliderobes Ipswich, to find out.
Could you tell me about some space-saving solutions for the home?
Sliderobes sliding door wardrobes maximise all of the available space in the home in terms of storage.
We can work around awkward areas, such as chimney breasts, and incorporate them into the design so that they become a feature.
Could you share your space-saving furniture ideas for small bedrooms?
For fitted wardrobes in bedrooms, we can offer lots of different storage combinations.
If you don’t have space for a big wardrobe, think about building up instead of out. Sliderobes allow you to easily go all the way to the ceiling. We can then maximise the height of the room with a pull-down hanging rail to give easy reach to the clothes higher up.

You can also select accessories that best suit your clothes. Extra shelving for all of your knitwear, a pull-out rail for trousers, specialist shoe storage if you are a shoe lover like me, chrome baskets and lots more.
If you have a box room that is just used for storage now, this can easily be transformed into a great walk-in wardrobe or dressing room. Not only do these give you great space to hide everything away, they can also offer a touch of luxury and can incorporate a vanity unit and dressing table.
Doors and shelving are available in a range of colours and finishes, such as glass, mirror and wood grain, so you will always be able to find something to suit your taste.
Is creative furniture also available in other small spaces in the home?
Yes we also work in studies and office space, offering a desk, shelving and drawers for filing.
We’ve recently worked with a customer who needed to include storage for a vacuum cleaner and ironing board, so we can work in utility areas as well.
For larger spaces, such as a living area, we can also create room dividers with sliding doors to create a partition.
How are fitted wardrobes designed?
A Sliderobes designer visits your home and takes measurements. He inputs these measurements into the laptop with our award-winning CAD programme.
The designer will talk to the customer about their style, needs and wants and offers solutions and suggestions. The customer is completely involved in the design process.
We can maximise the space available and offer solutions to problems, such as windows, difficult angles and shallow spaces.
Once he’s incorporated the customer’s wishes, the designer produces 2D and 3D pictures.
Where are the Sliderobes made?
Our fitted sliding door wardrobes are made on the premises, at our workshop in west Ipswich.
Customers’ made-to-measure Sliderobes are currently being designed, made and installed within a month.
Additional furniture to complement the Sliderobes, such as bedside tables and chests of drawers, which are made on-site, are also available.
Are fitted wardrobes expensive?
We can give you an idea of price over the phone, but it depends on the finish you have in mind. Sliderobes are prestigious products which offer good value for money and come with a 10-year guarantee. We like to think of Sliderobes as an affordable luxury.
