Memory
So many over the years. But here’s one… A garden party for a big birthday of mine - a lovely sunny afternoon with family and friends which lasted long into the evening.
I’m not telling you which big birthday it was as I have another looming this year!

Landmark
We live about 30 seconds away from the Abbey Gardens in Bury St Edmunds and I love the history that surrounds it and its peacefulness (OK, not necessarily at the
play park). I love to sit in our garden with a cup of tea or a glass of wine (time of day dependent) with a view over the Abbey Gardens and both the cathedral and The Angel Hotel on the skyline.

Beach
At quieter times of the year, we spend a fair bit of time in Aldeburgh. For me, there’s something very therapeutic about being by the sea and our dog loves nothing more
in life than to swim in the sea. Unfortunately, he can’t be dissuaded from diving for stones and managed to swallow one last year but all is well now. I love to walk along the beach up to Thorpeness for a pub lunch then back via the fish huts to pick up a crab and some smoked prawns for an evening snack.

Town/city or village
We live in Bury St Edmunds and I am definitely a townie. Barring a brief foray to the lovely village of Walsham Le Willows for a couple of years when our eldest was born, I’ve lived in Bury for years. I love the fact that so much is on our doorstep. Great food, drink, shopping and the wonderful Abbeygate Cinema all within a few minutes' walk.

Place to eat
It’s no secret that I love to eat so I have lots of favourite places. I’ve narrowed it down by knocking out pubs (see below) but still had trouble sifting through to decide
on just one favourite. Most recently, we had a great meal with friends at 1921. I’d also add Maison Bleue and Pea Porridge to my list of where to eat in the town. Out on the coast, The Lighthouse in Aldeburgh is a definite family favourite.

Pub
Where to start? I can’t not mention The One Bull in Bury. It has a history believed to date back to the 14th century, was the first pub we took on and our youngest
was born above it. For a coastal pub, I’d head to The Dolphin in Thorpeness (after that walk I mentioned earlier).

Attraction or day out
I love a trip to Orford. We visit the castle, walk round the beautiful village, head to the park, do a spot of crabbing and (of course) visit the wonderful Pump Street Bakery.

Event
I love that we have the Theatre Royal just a few minutes walk away from us in Bury.
It’s a proper piece of Regency history and it still seems incredible that it was used by Greene King as a barrel store until its restoration in the 1960’s. A little known fact is that I once trod the boards there many years ago. These days I love to watch all sorts of productions there and the pantomime is a firm annual fixture in our family diary.

Shop
Easy one this. Javelin in Bury St Edmunds. Clothes, shoes, accessories and homewares with lovely, friendly staff. I’ve been a big fan of this shop for years. Just round the corner from Javelin in Hatter Street, you’ll find Vino Gusto, a fabulous independent wine shop (you might call me biased!). And just round the corner from there, you’ll also find the fabulous Woosters for dangerously delicious croissants and bread.

Export
I’d have to say Suffolk Salami from family run Lane Farm in Brundish. We’re big fans of their salami and ham.
