AROUND 1,000 homes were left without water for nearly two hours tonight following a burst pipe.
Residents in Ramsey and upper Dovercourt experienced problems shortly after 3.20pm when a water main burst on the A120.
Motorists travelling towards Harwich during the evening rush hour experienced some delays close to the Wix turn off as a result.
A spokeswoman for Tendring Hundred Water apologised for the inconvenience and said that most customers had water by 5.10pm.
She said engineers isolated the source of the problem and water was re-routed through another main pipe.
“Once the burst has been isolated the repair of the main will take place, it is not anticipated that this will cause any further disruption to customers,” she said.
