Around 1,200 school children from in and around Bury St Edmunds will be learning vital life-lessons at Crucial Crew next month.

Year six pupils aged between 10 and 11, from 36 schools, will come together at West Suffolk College to experience various scenarios, staffed by experts who show children how to deal with potentially dangerous situations and how to protect both themselves and others.

The Fire Service will simulate what it is like being in a burning house, Abbeycroft Leisure will be talking to the children about the dangers of swimming in open water and how to help someone in trouble in the water and the Dogs Trust will be talking about being Dog Safe. The overall focus of the event is on personal safety and personal wellbeing.

Scenarious will be run by the Fire Service, Police, West Suffolk Community Safety Partnership, First Aid provider, Environmental Health, Dogs Trust, Suffolk Road Safety and Abbeycroft Leisure. Crucial Crew is organised and funded by St Edmundsbury Borough Council.
