Ipswich music sensation Nandi Bushell will set off the fireworks at a popular Ipswich Bonfire Night event this weekend.

The Ipswich drumming star, who recently shared the stage with Foo Fighters at Wembley stadium, will be lighting up the sky above Ipswich when she pushes the plunger that sets off the fireworks in Christchurch Park this Saturday.

Nandi released her new single, 'The Shadows', at the end of September.

The 12-year-old, who also plays the guitar, has become a worldwide star after she started posting her music videos online.

The Christchurch Park fireworks event, which has been organised by the 11th Ipswich Scout Group, has been running since 1972 and will be celebrating its 50th edition.

The display helps raise funds for the scout group and other organisations in Ipswich.

Event manager Ollie Arthur said: “This year should have been our 51st display, but the event was cancelled for the first time ever in 2020 due to the pandemic.

"Nandi and her family have been regular visitors to the event and we’re thrilled Nandi has excitedly accepted our invitation to push the plunger and launch our 50th fireworks display.”

The musical fireworks display will cost more than £20,000 and will be choreographed to a royal and regal mix of chart-topping hits and will feature a fitting tribute to former Scouts Patron, the Queen.

Nandi will be launching launching the fireworks at 8pm with gates opening from 6pm with a number of food and drink, fire performance and live entertainment on offer.

Tickets are only available online and cost £7.95 per child and £9.95 per adult.
