A 30-year-old plumber who tried to take cannabis into a Suffolk prison to his brother out of a “misguided sense of loyalty” will be sentenced later this month.
Before Ipswich Crown Court for a plea hearing on Friday (November 11) was Glen Walsh, of Charles Whincup Road, London.
He pleaded guilty to conveying cannabis into HMP Highpoint on May 8 this year and possessing cannabis with intent to supply on the same date.
In a basis of plea, Walsh said he was visiting his brother in Highpoint and had agreed to take a package of cannabis into the prison for him out of a misguided sense of loyalty and had not expected any reward.
Judge Emma Peters adjourned the case until November 30 for a pre-sentence report but warned Walsh that the usual sentence for anyone who takes drugs into prison was immediate prison.
