A Suffolk woman has described her time on the new hit BBC One programme The Traitors as "one of the best experiences" of her life.

Fay Greaves, who grew up in Ipswich but now lives near Bury St Edmunds, works as head of school welfare and was recently knocked out of the show.

Speaking about her time on the show Ms Greaves said: "It is an experience you can't buy.

East Anglian Daily Times:

"The adventure, the missions, the castle, for me it was one of the best experiences in my lifetime.

"My favourite part of the show is when I knew I could have a very nice sleep after I got the shield following the barrel mission.

"When you are in there the rest of it is just a blur."

Contestants play “the ultimate game of detection, backstabbing and trust” in the hope of winning up to £120,000.

The Ipswich Town Football Club fan said when she saw the application she initially thought it was a game show with a bit of adventure, mystery and suspense.

East Anglian Daily Times:

Ms Greaves explained why she signed up to go on the show.

She said: "I have been doing the same job for about 30 years and I work in a school and I thought to myself I am coming to the end of the road now doing the job and I need to look for something different.

"This just appealed to me and I thought if I can do this, I can do anything."

Describing what it is like to be a part of the show she said that the barrel and off-road mission was her favourite.

The 59-year-old added: "At first everyone thinks being a traitor is easier but being a faithful it was easier to just be myself because I was not going to slip up.

"Being yourself is the key to surviving the intense pot we were put in.

East Anglian Daily Times:

"You have to be super vigilant and look at how people's body language changes because when you are in that pot you do not see it.

"People think it is easy to tell who the traitors are but you cannot see it when you are all sat around the table because it is so intense."

Ms Greaves was full of praise of host Claudia Winkleman and said that she got on well with Amanda, Aaron and Alyssa.

"She was stunning," she said.

"She even lent me her hot water bottle one day when I was so cold."

The Traitors concludes this week.
