A new tattoo parlour in a Suffolk town has caused a bit of a stir by featuring naked mannequins in its shop window.

Under Your Skin, in North Street, Sudbury, has started a discussion on whether the figures can rightly be called "offensive".

The business was set up by friends Jenna-Lee Fourie-Cook, 32, and Rochelle King, 33, and only opened last month

Ms King said: "A woman came in and explained to me that she shouldn't have to keep seeing these naked mannequins and shouldn't have to keep explaining to her children that they are nude. She said they need to be covered up because it is offensive.

East Anglian Daily Times:

"I was just shocked. It is a good topic for discussion. I posted if on the Facebook group to see if anyone agreed with her. I only had positive responses.

"I was expecting someone to agree with her, but no one did, even people who do not even like tattoos."

Ms King did not set out to be controversial, but instead spotted the mannequins for sale and decided to create an art display for the new business.

She added: "It's different. I didn't plan to have mannequins in the window. I spotted them for sale and thought I could doodle on these and use them as a kind of art feature.

East Anglian Daily Times:

"My business partner wasn't sure at first. She said it might be tacky, but I said I was going to get an acrylic pen and draw over them.

"On the Facebook page, someone mentioned Barbie dolls, who have similar flat female bodies.

"As a parent myself, I could understand if they were explicit but they are just rounded-off mannequins."

The shop offers tattoos, body piercings, and aesthetic treatments such as lip filler and wrinkle filler.
