An 85-year-old man will be sentenced next year after admitting murdering his wife in a violent attack.
John Berry carried out the attack on his wife Edna at their Clacton home on Tuesday, February 21 this year.
Emergency services arrived at their Turpins Close home in at about 1pm and found a woman in her 80s with a serious head injury.

She was taken to hospital for treatment, but died of her injuries.
Berry was charged with murder following the attack.
He initially denied the charge and was due to stand trial at Chelmsford Crown Court on Wednesday, but entered a guilty plea at a late stage after admitting to killing his wife.
Berry will be sentenced in January.
Detective Chief Inspector Ant Alcock said: "I want to take this opportunity to offer my sincere sympathy to all those affected in this case – it is simply a tragedy
"Edna's family have been understandably deeply affected by this incident and have handled themselves with humbling dignity throughout this investigation.
"My thoughts, first and foremost, remain with them today.
"This is a tragic case and Berry's conviction today does not change that."
