A teenager has been arrested after a pole was used to attack two nesting swans. 

The incident happened on a track off George Westwood Way in Beccles last Monday (November 13) when a 16-year-old is accused of attacking the animals. 

Following the incident, both creatures were distressed but uninjured.

The teenager was arrested on suspicion of injuring a Schedule 1 wild bird and suspicion of causing criminal damage. 

He was taken to Great Yarmouth Police Station for questioning and released on police bail pending further enquiries, to answer on February 16.
