A man suffered head injuries during an assault in a pub beer garden.
Police were called to the Purple Dog, in Eld Lane, in Colchester at about 10.30pm on Friday, October 11.
It was reported to officers that a man attempted to defuse an argument between two groups of people before being assaulted.
The victim, who is aged in his 40s, suffered facial and head injuries which required medical treatment.
Essex Police has confirmed that no arrests have been made at this stage.
The suspect has been described as a white man, of stocky build, about 6ft 2ins and has long, curly blond hair.
Witnesses have described him wearing a dark blue hooded top, grey jeans and white shoes.
