POLLING takes place tomorrow in the East Yorkshire constituency of Haltemprice and Howden, a by-election forced by former shadow home secretary David Davis who resigned to stand on policies opposed to 42 days of detention without charge and also the UK's increasing surveillance society.

POLLING takes place tomorrow in the East Yorkshire constituency of Haltemprice and Howden, a by-election forced by former shadow home secretary David Davis who resigned to stand on policies opposed to 42 days of detention without charge and also the UK's increasing surveillance society.

A record 26 candidates have joined the bun fight, but Labour and the Liberal Democrats are not among them. Labour said it would not play Davis's game while the Lib Dems support the stand taken by Davis.
