It’s a huge day for young people across the county – with thousands of students receiving their long-awaited A-Level results. How did your child’s school or college perform?

Thousands of students from across the region collected their long-anticipated A-Level results today.

Woodbridge School

Nearly 40% of students at Woodbridge School achieved three A grades or equivalent, while the percentage of A* grades is at its highest in four years - nearly double that of 2018.

Of the 83 students who sat the exams this year, 86.3% achieved A*-C grades and 99.6% achieved A*-E grades.

Shona Norman, acting headteacher, said: "Congratulations to our sixth form leavers on their excellent A-Level achievements. Nearly 40% secured the equivalent of three A grades and of the rest, nearly a quarter achieved at least one A grade or better. The percentage of A* grades this year is the highest in the last four years, nearly double that of last year.

"These results pay testament to the students' hard work and determination to succeed, and we wish them every success as they leave Woodbridge School."

Samuel Kill, 18, was "over the moon" with his results - which mean he can follow his passion for science at Imperial College London.

Samuel achieved an A* in maths, A in physics and a B in chemistry, and is planning to study for a degree in materials science with nuclear engineering.

He said: "I'm so delighted with my results, they're fantastic. I love science and engineering, and I can't wait to follow my passion at Imperial College next month."

Meanwhile, Isabelle Cory is celebrating her exceptional A-Level results at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where she is following her passion for drama with a school performance of 'Délicieux!'.

Isabelle achieved an A* in drama, A* in English literature and an A in French, which has secured her place to study English at The University of St Andrews in Edinburgh.

Stowupland High School

At Stowupland High, 56% of students achieved A*-C grades at A-Level, with an overall pass rate of 92%.

Two students, Aaron Norman and Holly Williams, gained straight A* grades, securing places on their chosen courses at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge, and Warwick University respectively.

Meanwhile, Phoebe Hayden achieved three A-Levels in maths, biology and chemistry, while balancing training to be part of the GB U18 rowing squad. Other students are going on to study at universities across the country or have secured higher level apprenticeships locally.

Headteacher Wendy Baster said: "We are delighted with the achievement of all our students this summer. Applied General results have remained excellent with students achieving more than half a grade above national averages and A level results have improved by a quarter of a grade on last year.

"We are very proud of our comprehensive sixth form and would like to congratulate all in Year 13."

Diss High School

It was a successful day for students at Diss High, with the sixth form scoring an outstanding pass rate of over 99%.

The number of pupils achieving A*-C was also up on last year - at 85%.

Among those collecting their results were Caity Adkins and Natty Strange, who are going to study medicine at Nottingham University and King's College, Cambridge, respectively.

Caity gained three A* grades in biology, chemistry and maths, while Natty achieved two A*s in chemistry and maths, an A in biology, and a B in further maths.

Headteacher Jan Hunt said: "Our Sixth Form students have worked incredibly hard. A levels were more rigorous this year and students and staff are to be congratulated on a fabulous set of results.

"Nearly all of our students have already had their university places confirmed."

Sir John Leman High School

The first cohort of students to be at Sir John Leman High School from Years 7 to 13 has achieved a 99% pass rate at A-Level.

The students, of whom 71% achieved A*-C grades, will be taking up places at top universities across the country - such as UEA, Nottingham and Durham, with others embarking on quality apprenticeships with employers such as Lovewell Blake, Mott MacDonald and Morgan Sindall.

Particularly impressive results were achieved by Holly Smith, who gained A*s in art and English literature, an A in English language and a B in her Extended Project.

Thomas Mills High School

Of the 116 students who sat A-Level exams at Thomas Mills this year, 98% passed, and more than three quarters achieved A*-C grades.

Philip Hurst, headteacher, said: "We congratulate the students on a superb set of results. They are a great year group who deserve their success. It's been lovely seeing so many smiling faces".

"We wish them all the best with the next stage of their lives."

Farlingaye High School

The students at Farlingaye High Sixth Form achieved an outstanding pass rate of 99.4%, with 81% gaining A*-C grades.

Many are now headed to study their chosen subjects at prestigious universities such as Cambridge, Durham, York and UCL.

Among the highest achieving students was Lucy Reeve, who gained four A*s, and will soon be heading to Cambridge to study medicine.

She said: "Sixth form has been an amazing experience. The staff have been so helpful, especially my head of year who did a huge amount of work with me to help me get ready to apply for my medicine course. Now I am really looking forward to life at Cambridge."

Meanwhile, Alex Richards is off to York to study physics, after achieving three A*s and one A grade.

He said: "Thanks to all the staff who helped me over the past two years. I've had great support."

Headteacher Andy Sievewright said: "I am so pleased for our students. They have really deserved all their success. The excellent overall results in A level and Level 3 vocational courses, and the fantastic performances in the Extended Project Qualification by many students, reflect their hard work and dedication.

"These outcomes will open all sorts of doors for them and create amazing opportunities for the future. I have also been very impressed by the willingness of the students to engage with the 'extras' offered, such as the critical thinking qualification which is taken by all students and which produced some great outcomes, as well as helping them to develop the sort of thinking processes which will stand them in good stead in the future.

"We are very proud of how they have seized all of the opportunities presented to them."
