Police have closed the A1088 between Honington and Ixworth after a marquee from a nearby field was blown onto the road.

Suffolk police officers were called shortly after 12.15pm to reports that a large tent or marquee had lifted from the winds into the road.

Suffolk County Council highways and fire teams were called to help remove the marquee.

Police closed the road in both directions between the A143 junction and the Troston Road/Sapiston Road junction for safety reasons while the errant marquee was being removed.

The road was cleared and re-opened by around 3.15pm.
