Police were called to the road, near Barton Mills in the Newmarket direction at 5.55am, following reports of a two-vehicle crash.
A male casualty complained of chest pain at the scene as paramedics worked in the road. He was taken to West Suffolk Hospital with a hand injury, a force spokesman said.
The collision involved a BMW 525 and a Ford Fiesta which are both now being removed from the carriageway.
