A POST MORTEM examination carried out on a dismembered body discovered on the A12 has revealed the woman died of multiple injuries.

The woman, believed to be in her 50's from Essex, was found by members of the public on the A12 carriageway at Capel St Mary at 9.45pm on Tuesday.

Police are treating the death as “unexplained” and are continuing their investigations.

Formal identification of the woman has not yet taken place.

It is understood that consideration is being given to the possibility the woman took her own life.

A blue Peugeot 406, believed to belong to the woman, was discovered at a nearby lay-by and taken away for forensic examination.

A spokeswoman for Suffolk police thanked members of the public who had already come forward with information but urged more to contact the force.

“We would continue that appeal for anyone driving along the A12 at the time to contact us”, she added.

Anyone with information is being asked to call 01473 613500.
