THERE are heavy delays on the A12 after the southbound carriageway was closed following a serious accident.
Police were contacted at about 1.10pm after a blue Vauxhall Vectra lost control and left the road and rolled down an embankment before hitting a tree near Witham.
Emergency services remain on the scene, close to the junction with the B1389.
An Essex Police spokeswoman said they were awaiting the arrival of recovery services and the road was currently closed.
