FIRE service control room operators were flooded with calls from concerned motorists after a small fire on the side of the A12.
The blaze happened near Kelvedon at 5.05pm on Saturday and crews from Coggeshall, Witham and Colchester put out the small fire within 15 minutes.
Just minutes later, calls poured in from drivers on the M11 motorway about a second grass fire.
Crews from Harlow and Loughton spent 15 minutes put the flames out by 5.35pm.
