DRIVERS were facing more misery on the A12 tonight after it was revealed one lane of the southbound carriageway will remain closed while repairs are carried out to a pothole.
Police were called to the busy road at 6am today after four vehicles were damaged by the pothole which was caused by a burst water pipe.
Work to fix the problem near the Hatfield Peverel turn-off has continued throughout the day and will be on-going tonight and into tomorrow morning, Essex Police said.
Drivers are advised to take alternate routes or face long delays.
