Firefighters cut free two motorists left trapped after a single-vehicle collision on the A12 in Suffolk today.

A green Nissan Terrano was left on its side after the incident on the A12 southbound at around 11.45am, police said.

Four fire engines, paramedics and officers attended the scene.

The two motorists were cut free by firefighters using specialist cutting equipment and were taken to hospital for treatment, a Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said.

The injuries were not thought to be life-threatening or serious, a Suffolk Constabulary spokesman said.

The collision caused a diesel spillage and the road was closed off in both directions between Kessingland and Wangford by police at midday.

The road had reopened by 1.50pm after gritters were called to the scene to help clear the road.
