A main road in Essex was shut tonight while workers cleared up oil and debris following a collision between two cars.

The A120 in Marks Tey was closed in both directions between the A12 and the B1024 because of the crash, which was reported to police just after 6.30pm.

One woman has sustained minor injuries, a spokeswoman for Essex Police said.

The road reopened around 9.20pm.

Essex County Fire and Rescue Service sent three vehicles - two from Colchester and one from Coggeshall - to the scene at 6.35pm to help free a trapped motorist.

Highways England and Essex Police also attended.

Diversions were put in place.
