POLICE have named the second teenager who died following a fatal crash on the A14 last week.

Sixteen-year-old Macauley Clements from Ixworth suffered serious injuries when the silver BMW he was a passenger in left the road and collided with a tree on Thursday, January 24.

Police were called to the scene of the crash on the eastbound carriageway of the A14 at Bury St Edmunds at around 8.55pm.

Two vehicles were seen travelling along the road, a silver BMW and a red Ford Fiesta, before the BMW left the road and hit a tree.

The driver of the BMW, 19-year-old Adam Weller from Hereward Way, Weeting in Norfolk was pronounced dead at the scene.

The passenger, Macauley Clements, was taken to Addenbrookes Hospital with serious injuries and died the following day.

The driver of the Ford Fiesta, a 20-year-old man from Bury St Edmunds, was arrested on Thursday, January 24 on suspicion of dangerous driving and has been bailed pending further inquiries.

He is due to return to the Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre on March 4.

Witnesses to the crash are asked to call Pc Danny Ormes at the Serious Collision Investigation Team on 101.
