HUNDREDS of drivers had their evening journey home disrupted tonight after a lorry tyre blow out on the A14 near the Orwell Bridge.
The incident happened on the Felixstowe-side between the bridge and the Nacton turn-off at about 4.19pm. The lorry blocked the inside lane resulting in motorists having to travel around it.
At one stage tailbacks stretched as far as Copdock. It had a knock-on effect to Ipswich town centre as many drivers diverted through the town.
Suffolk police said that recovery arrived “very quickly” and the lane was cleared at 5.30pm - although it took some time for traffic to clear.
