A14: Firefighters called to blaze

Firefighters were called to the A14 following reports of a blaze at a portable building.

Crews from Ipswich were sent to the road works site on the west bound carriageway, about 200m before the Wherstead junction, near Ipswich, around 3.10pm today.

Firefighters from the town’s Colchester Road and Princes Street stations attended.

However when they arrived they discovered it was a false alarm, with fumes coming from a diesel generator powering speed cameras.
