MOTORISTS are being warned to expect delays in Ipswich overnight as the Orwell Bridge is closed for repair work.
The A14 will be closed in both directions between junction 56 at Wherstead and the Nacton junction between 8pm tonight and 6am tomorrow.
The closure will allow the Highways Agency to carry out resurfacing work, replace a surface drain, clean the drainage pipes and carry out the final part of an abseiling inspection of the outside of the bridge.
Traffic will be diverted off the A14 at Copdock, along Valley Road and Colchester Road, to rejoin the A14 at the Seven Hills interchange.
On Thursday and Friday lane two of the A14 will be closed in both directions and on Monday and Tuesday next week lane one will be closed in the westbound carriageway.
