The abnormal load passed through a number of Suffolk villages this morning.

The load, which was heavy plant machinery, was being moved from a site in Bawdsey inland towards Woodbridge.

The escort began at 10am yesterday morning and will stretch from Ferry Road in Bawdsey to Sandy Lane in Woodbridge.

To qualify as an abnormal load under government transport guidelines the machinery had to weigh more than 44,000 kilograms on an axle load of more than 10,000 kilograms for a single non-driving axle and 11,500 kilograms for a single driving axle of a width of more than 2.9 metres.
