One of East Anglia’s air ambulances caused a stir on Saturday lunchtime after it was called to land near West Suffolk College near the heart of Bury St Edmunds.
It landed on land by the college, in Out Risbygate, after there were reports of a member of the public needing emergency medical treatment.
There were details about the nature of the emergency – but that area of Bury St Edmunds is quite built up and the college grounds are the only open land in that part of town which is large enough for a helicopter to land.
The machine was Anglia Two which had been called to Bury St Edmunds from its base not too far away at Cambridge Airport.
The arrival caused interest for many people in the area on a busy Saturday lunchtime with the helicopter – and it spent several minutes on the ground while the person was given emergency treatment by a doctor and paramedics.
