A cyclist in his 70s is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after being involved in a crash with a car in Stowmarket.

Police were called at around 3.40pm to reports of a crash involving a car and a cyclist in Needham Road.

An ambulance from the East of England Ambulance Service and the East Anglian Air Ambulance attended, and were with the patient for more than an hour before he was flown to Addenbrooke’s Hospital with life-threatening head injuries.

Police had closed the road between the roundabout with Lavenham Way and the mini roundabout at Combs Ford, which was re-opened shortly after 6pm.

Anyone who witnessed the crash should contact Suffolk police on 101, quoting CAD 295 of September 30.
