Two people were taken to hospital following a crash involving a lorry and a car near the A14’s junction with Risby this afternoon.
Police have shut the South Street flyover while recovery is arranged and crash investigators work at the scene.
The A14 is currently unaffected with traffic flowing in both directions, a Suffolk Constabulary spokeswoman said.
An air ambulance landed at the scene shortly after 3pm and several ambulance crews were also dispatched.
The collision, which happened shortly before 2.45pm today, involved a lorry and a car.
Two ambulances, two ambulance officers and an air ambulance were sent to the scene after members of the public raised the alarm.
Crews treated two patients at the scene who were taken by land ambulance to West Suffolk Hospital.
The driver of the car was complaining of chest pain and had difficulty breathing, but an ambulance spokeswoman said the pair’s injuries are not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing.
Three fire crews from Bury St Edmunds and Newmarket were also sent to the scene at around 2.42pm but had left by 3.10pm.
