Firefighters from Suffolk were among rescuers called following a distress call from an aircraft over a landing strip near Cambridge.

Two fire crews from Newmarket were called shortly after 2.10pm on Saturday, along with colleagues from Cambridge and Royston stations.

The alarm was raised following reports of an aircraft in distress over a landing strip in Fowlmere – a village west of Duxford.

According to Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service’s control room, the aircraft landed safely.
