ALDEBURGH’S lifeboat crew has received a huge boost from the work of a noisy teenager who entertains visitors to the town.
Mr Magoo is a 14-year-old cockatoo who has been raising money for the RNLI lifeboat for three years – and this year he has brought in a record sum.
His collecting tin has raised 2,177 – despite being stolen at one point.
Owner Diana Lovell-Pank said: “This is the first year we have been here full-time and it is a great achievement. The support I have had from local people has been wonderful.
“When we had the theft, three businesses rallied round and donated 100 each – we ended up with more than was actually taken!”
She added: “Cockatoos can live up to 80 years, so he’ll see me out no problem! I’ve already given instructions about what to do with him in my will – my family don’t want him because he’s too noisy.”
